So as you know by now, I’m off to NYC tomorrow!

I have been frantically trying to cross all my T’s and dot all my I’s before leaving and get all my clients in a good place. This will be the first time since I’ve been a certified full-time small business owner that I’ve taken more than one day off. In truthfulness, I checked my email on Christmas. For shame.

It’s really hard though! This little business is my baby. It’s every day; it’s what I love to do, it makes me happy, and walking away for even just a few days feels like what I imagine leaving your baby with the babysitter for the first time feels like. It’s not easy, but it’s important to learn to step away sometimes. I think I’ll be better when I come back, and hopefully I won’t miss anything too important while I’m gone.

I can’t wait to just be me for a few days, spend some time with my very favorite person in this world, and come back feeling refreshed, inspired, and ready to tackle anything. So look for lots of fun inspiration posts next week of the adventures of “dodeline in the big city!” In the meantime, I have a few lovely guest posters for while I’m gone, so please keep coming by the blog!

How do you deal with days off? Do you go cold-turkey off the Crackberry addiction, or continue to check emails and answer phone calls?

The crackberry is always be my side if I'm state bound. If I'm overseas…well that's a different story! Enjoy the vacation!

I was meant to have the weekend off and missed my business too much so I worked instead. It's hard when you love what you do!

Have an awesome time in NYC! Can't wait for your stories! :)

I'm always returning emails no matter what day it is ;-)

Yep I am always checking emails and answering phone calls and texts no matter what – it is so hard to cut everything loose
