I was inspired yesterday by the post on TiffanyLane Handmade sharing how she worked pine boughs into her holiday decor this year, so I thought I’d share my own holiday trimmings.

We’re still in an apartment, so I don’t exactly love our beige-on-beige-on-beige surroundings, but we make the best of it. I was very excited that in our current apartment we have a mantel to decorate, as that’s always a lot of fun. My mom and I used to work on it together when I was younger so it’s really neat now to have a mantel of my own to play with.

In fact, my mom contributed our stocking hangers, which I love. I found the centerpiece red tree at Target last year on sale, and then the rest are all pieces of my normal decor. I added the pine boughs to some twig type florals I use all year round, laid some Christmas lights underneath it all, and took the books that normally live on the mantel and flipped them around so they added some pretty neutrals to the scheme. I love it.

Our tree is full of ornaments that mean something to us – we buy them on our travels and give them to each other every year for Christmas. This is one of my favorites…it is also, coincidentally, our prized most expensive one ($45!) that we bought in Palm Beach. Funny how we were able to get ornaments cheaper in Paris lol!

We also put a bird’s nest on the tree every year for good luck. Is that a tradition you do too?

What does your home look like at Christmas? Happy weekend!

I love your mantel, so pretty with the natural elements. I'm all about bringing nature inside all year long! And what beautiful ornaments :)

I didn't know a bird's nest was good luck, I'll have to dig that ornament out :)

I didn't know about the birds nest either, I'm going to have to find one now. We're the same, we collect ornaments during our travels. My favorites are the jade bells we got in Hong Kong when we got married there and a Fijian Masi Angel from Fiji :) Your mantel looks great, I love the nature you've incorporated into it.
