In the last year, I have had the pleasure of working with Julia from Folly Photos on many exciting projects. She and her husband Anton are passionate Folly Beach residents who love everything sand + sea — and not only that, but Julia is a wonderful photographer.

Recently she and I put together some collateral for her photography business…

…which turned out great! She even snapped this much-better-than-I-could-do photo :-) A box mailer + shipping label to put all the goodies in; CD case with branded release / waiver forms, thank you note, CD, etc.; fun business cards from Moo that allowed us to have different photos on the backs; and a custom stamp made by Typestyles on Etsy to be able to change up the cover on the CD holder, box mailer, etc. Plus I’m obsessed with stamps.

I also did the Folly Photos website several months ago, which you can check out here and also see her on Facebook.

One of their latest ventures, though, is A Sea Ceremony, where she and her boat captain husband have joined forces to make getting married on the beach super easy. I also had the pleasure of working with them on the logo + site for this new business and it was such fun!

I think it’s such a great concept – it really would make running away to marry your sweetheart on the beach a cinch, and you’d still get beautiful photos to remember it with.

So anyway, I thought it was high time to share some of the lovely things going on over there on Folly Beach (The Edge of America)! I love building long lasting relationships with clients and this has been a particularly wonderful pairing :-)

PS We are back from Chicago! Can’t wait to share pictures!

Anna + Eric’s Legare Waring House wedding was recently featured on Elizabeth Ann Designs blog.

We worked with the incredible team at Southern Protocol to create her invitation. I don’t have a good picture of it at the moment, but check out the post to see more – including her awesome Marie Antoinette cake!

Happy Wednesday!

I love using Instagram to share sneak peeks of work in progress. I’m so busy getting orders out right now that I don’t have time for much else at the moment!

Happy #ww!

I’ve talked about these awesome woodland wedding invitations before, and this beautiful bride actually got married a few weekends ago in a beautiful wedding at the Rice Mill.

We were lucky enough to stay involved with the day of paper and created these super fun book table numbers for her…

Photographer: Stephen Blackmon | Planner: Luke Wilson Events

Each table was different – different books and different graphics / colors. I love how well they incorporated them into the florals and the pretty sage tablecloths are so elegant. It’s always so much fun to see the finished result, but sad to be finished working on such a beautiful wedding!

Robert woke up with a genius idea yesterday morning to try out Wildflour’s famous sticky bun Sunday. I had heard so much about it but we’d never been, so I called them to find out if they still had any, and was told we’d better hurry!

So off we went to the wedding district on a beautiful Spring day in Charleston. I’ve had several weddings in common with Wildflour and had a few meetings there, but didn’t realize how it is THE place to be on a Sunday…

…for very good reason.

We got sticky buns and cinnamon rolls to bring over to visit with my family, and they were every bit as yummy as they look. Pair those with wedding/honeymoon photo albums and family time, and it was a pretty fantastic Sunday.

How was your weekend?

Lindsay and Phil were an awesome couple to work with & got married last weekend. From the peek I got in Instagram, it looked like the day went beautifully.

The bride knew what she wanted for her invitation so we worked together very well – we created a logo that we placed on a belly band, and the whole suite was very monochromatic except for the little pops of blue. I am in love with the liner and the color it adds.

Congratulations Lindsay & Phil!

And with that, it’s FRIDAY! Yippee! Have a wonderful weekend everyone. Any exciting plans?

Someone tweeted this yesterday, and I thought it was a genius observation:

@afinepress: Wish more weddings would be inspired by from fine art or industrial/architectural design instead of other weddings.

I didn’t realize what a great observation that was until I started thinking back to my college days. For me anyway, it was nearly impossible to have an original idea if I started looking at all my friend’s projects (we would all be working on the same building), or even other interiors. The best ideas came from concepts and nature and other inspirations.

So as much fun as pinning wedding stuff is, I think it’s a pretty great idea to step back and look at what inspires you in your everyday life. Here are a few places and things I would love to design a wedding or even a space around…

{pictured above} Cypress Gardens – the reflections in the water and the verticality of the trees could become a beautifully elegant space.

The Winter Garden at the Biltmore is one of my favorite spaces I’ve ever visited. It’s so full of light and greenery. I tried to get married there but that was a no-go, so I guess “inspired by” will have to do!

Frank Lloyd Wright’s Unity Temple. I have never been there, but my Architecture professor told me that if you are deathly ill, you should go there to have your picture taken because the lighting is so perfect it will make anyone look incredible. It is a modern masterpiece, and although I think it’s probably got less popular appeal than a space like the Winter Garden above, the patterns and colors could make for a very cool modern wedding motif.

Vintage. We love vintage and it is all the rage right now, but I have noticed everyone seems to apply vintage in the same way – vintage as in it feels old and rough around the edges. But vintage means a lot of different things and a lot of different eras – for example, the Pop Art movement. How much fun would a pop art inspired reception be? Think of the candy bar and funky furniture you could use!

So those are a few of my ideas. Have any to add?

These invitations are for the bride whose awesome save the date ended up in Southern Living — so you know the invitation had to be something special!

We did a pocket again but this time with a fun little tag tied around everything to make it a sweet little package. The graphics are a marriage of a little bit more formal/Charleston feel and some really fun elements too.

It’s Wednesday – we made it to the middle of the week! For once I have something exciting going on – we have Elton John tickets tonight! So I will be drinking lots of OJ today in an attempt to battle this cold.

Have an awesome day!

This sweet Simply Savannah Events bride has a beautiful blush and sage palette for her wedding that I just fell in love with. Add to that some succulents and a cute Englishman meets Lowcountry girl theme, plus she’s a Georgia Bulldog, and I was over the moon excited to work on these!

Happy Wednesday! We’re halfway there! :-)

This is a major pain. I was so excited and still am to try out my new last name and the Mrs. that went with it. But all the red tape in this world means it’s quite a few steps before you’ll actually be signing it and presenting it as your official name.

I was surprised at how few posts I found on this, so I thought it was high time to write one. Here’s how I experienced this process…

1. Your journey begins at the super fun and exciting Social Security office.

You have to bring the actual marriage license with you, as well as your current identification information (Social Security card, driver’s license). Then it’s just a waiting game – my wait time was over an hour.

Like anything with the government, your new card will show up in 7 to 14 business days.

2. To continue the good times, head over to the DMV.

The social security office game me a receipt to present to them to show that I had been there first. Same info otherwise – actual marriage license, ID, etc. While here, you should also be able to update your Voter’s Registration. You should walk away with a new ID from here.

3. To the bank!

Take the shiny new ID over to your banking institution and switch your accounts so that your ID will match the name on your cards. You also have to bring the original marriage license to the bank, at least I did to both of my banks. Same for the credit card company you use.

4. The other guys

Don’t forget about utilities (cable, water, power, rent / mortgage), your passport, cell phone, Facebook (lol), etc.

I am finally somewhere in step 4. I keep finding things I forgot to change. I have a feeling this process will be going on awhile :-)
