The Charleston Shucker Co. website just went live this week, and Little Roura: Invitologist is also complete!

It has been a bit of a long process since, as a product that requires engraving, it’s quite a puzzle to make sure we thought of all the possibilities that people might want/not want, what to require & what not to require, etc. It was a challenge but I think the end result looks great! Check it out here.

Little Roura

This is one of my favorite sites I’ve done I think – she is so talented with her invitations and has such a cool style. It was inspiring to work with another highly creative person and I think – even though our stationery styles are a little bit different – we were on very much the same page with the website! It looks great and I wish her best of luck!

Check it out here.

I have the spent the last week or so transferring quite a few domains for a client of mine, and boy do they make it difficult!  Here are a few notes on the process:

- You must first unlock the domain at the current registrar.

- You must then request an EPP code in order to be able to transfer it.  This will be sent to the admin contact on the domain, so be sure it’s an email you have access to.

- You then must head to the new registrar, let them know about the domain you’re transferring and provide an EPP code.  In my case, with Hostmonster, I then had to wait for an authorization code to be sent from Hostmonster to the admin contact so that I could complete the process.

- You then have to enter the authorization code for each domain at the new registrar and, typically, pay to renew the domain.

- Then,  it’s back to the old registrar to approve the transfer.

Could they make it more difficult?  By the way, here is another article I found on approving the transfers at Go Daddy, because, predictably, they don’t make that very easy:

Fun times!

I decided today after fighting and struggling to find the best e-commerce solution for WP websites, that I really should start blogging because I think it would help me and anyone else who stumbles upon my humble little website.  First of all, I have spent hours messing with various plugins, so it may help someone else and save them a little time, plus help me when I can’t remember next week which one I liked and which one I didn’t!

So it’s definitely going on the list to make this blog look better!  Coming soon.

Okay, so here’s my rundown of what I’ve found on the WP e-commerce plugins:

- WP E-commerce: this one is supposed to be the best, and I liked it when I got it installed, but I have had more problems and error messages come up than I count.  I’m really frustrated with that one.

- Mals-E: I’ve heard great things about this one and I checked it out, but I wish they had a specific WP plugin because I couldn’t customize the cart to look like the website.

- Ecwid was okay.  I thought ti was a little cookie cutter, and it did some funny things immediately with the CSS and layout, and plus the stylesheet was so comprehensive it spazzed out everytime I tried to save it.  I also didn’t like that you had to maintain the products offsite.

- Eshop was pretty neat actually, I liked it a lot.  Downfall: only accepts Paypal.

- QuickShop was okay too, but just wasn’t wild about it and now I don’t even remember the problem I had with it.

- Moving on to OSCommerce now.  Wish me luck guys.
